Assist Dispatch Operators

Provide complete access to location, GPS coordinates, road access route and navigational data, quickly and efficiently.

Identifying the location of a Triple Zero (000) call is the most important factor in the delivery of timely and accurate emergency response services.

In Victoria, dispatch operators need two vital pieces of information to assist you with your emergency:
• The location of your emergency (where is it?)
• The nature of your emergency (what is it?)

However, when you’re out and about it is sometimes difficult to explain exactly where you are. For this reason, Emergency Markers are unique signs which are provide you with a three letter, three number system.

Championed by ESTA (Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority) in partnership with Ambulance Victoria, Parks VictoriaVictoria Police, Victoria SES, Life Saving Victoria, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and RapidMap. Emergency Markers are placed in public areas, such as public reserves and gardens, racecourses, river trails, cycling tracks and National Parks. Descriptive location-based data is recorded for each marker. Triple Zero (000) dispatch operators can then provide specific directional information to responding emergency services.

This means emergency services arrive on scene faster. Saving time and saving lives.

RapidMap works with land owners across the state to identify the best location for emergency markers. We then collect the necessary data and feed it back to ESTA via our award-winning information management solution.

Emergency Markers Stakeholders-01

ESTA recognised that RapidMap’s experience across many government projects involving integration of GPS/ GNSS and Mobile computing solutions, spatial data management and spatial data collection was an advantage we could leverage due to our lack of exposure to field data collection. We also knew RapidMap would give us the needed support over the long term to modify the Data collection system as requirements evolved.
