Use Case – National Broadband Network

Mobile Field System for NBN Design and Construction Efficiencies

Improve the quality of deliverables at all levels of your organisation with an innovative field system that not only gives you a competitive advantage but also high levels of confidence and a rapid progression from design to construction.

Based on RapidMap’s successful field methodologies, now you can equip your teams with digital survey maps, comprehensive forms for collecting FIR data and validating GNAF addresses, and integrated photo and mark-up tool, helping save time, money and reach NBN roll-out targets.

This system was recently endorsed in the NBN Project Implementation Report as providing visibility across all stages of construction and safety.

Throughout the survey, you can propose new builds, mark changes and record variations with costs known upfront. Users can see comprehensive Telstra network data map as well as NBN plans, and be aware of other subsurface utilities that may affect construction.

Suitable for any NBN field activity including FSAM site review and recording variations, FTTP, FTTN and HFC design and construction activities. Customised Reports can include FIR, BOM and BOQ as required.

Case Study – Managing NBN Design and Construction Data

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is Australia’s first national wholesale, open access communications network. It is being built to bring high speed broadband and telephone services within the reach of all Australian premises. Multiple contractors are being engaged to survey and roll out the NBN across the country, with the job broken down into a series of FSAM areas.

The Iconyx Summit Solution provides a turnkey, comprehensive solution for the survey of NBN FSAM infrastructure to enable a rapid compilation of FIR, AVR and pit remediation reports. Surveyors and rod and roping field teams can work at any location, regardless of network access. Survey assignments are distributed via the internet and survey results are submitted the same way with an audit trail.

As data is centralised and synchronised, the teams are kept up to date with activities in adjacent areas, duplication is prevented, work can be easily reassigned, and travel time can be kept to an absolute minimum. Progress reporting, Quality Control analysis and communication of design changes back to the central office gives real intelligence to project managers to ensure success.
